I ran another session of 2-player Dungeons & Dragons campaign last night – one of the players couldn’t make it – so the other player decided to work on his tower/inn.
It was a purely logistics-based session: selling items, paying retainers, making deals, and it was heaps of fun!
The characters inherited a squat 3-level tower after the owner died while in their company (and no, they didn’t do the killing), and since then, the halfling fighter/thief has been trying to turn it into an inn.

In last night’s session, he made a deal with the local timber suppliers to pass through his tower on their way to the nearby settlement of Southaven because orcs had taken over their usual route.
In exchange for using his tower, the loggers promised timber supplies for a stables to be built.
These sorts of games can be a real breath of fresh air, especially for combat-heavy games.
My campaign is a sandbox – players can do whatever they want to. And this player, in particular, has taken that to heart.
