Stop making your Dungeons & Dragons campaign maps perfect.
No-one in history ever made an accurate map. They used to argue about where places were located all the time.
Let you PCs discover the truth.
In a recent podcast, the creator re-tells a story about how bad the world maps were for Java back in the medieval times. Most map-makers and explorers just placed it any where on the map as far away as they could fit it – mainly because they never knew where it was actually located.
If these professional map-makers cannot get a map correct, neither should you.
This also gives you a chance for your exploring PCs to shine, especially if one of them is an explorer/map-maker type.
