One thing I want to do more of on the site is to include links to stuff I find really interesting that isn’t really known by most in the TTRPG community (although, your mileage may vary).
One cool item I came across recently is the city of Irilian.

This was a city that was built over several issue of the White Dwarf magazine – back when it had D&D and other TTRPG content in it (any issues prior to 100 are the ones I look for).
(If anyone knows the exact issue they stopped including D&D content, then let me know in the comments below.)
Irilian was the brainchild of Dan Collerton, who detailed the city over issues 42-47.
Instead of trying to find each issue though, a cool gaming geek decided to put all those articles together in a more reader-friendly format.

What’s in the PDF?
The result is a 72-page PDF that covers everything from the magazine articles, including coloured and B&W maps.
He hasn’t been active on his blog since 2022, so I thought I would place a link on my website just in case his site goes down. Hopefully, he won’t mind.
This collection contains a lot of information about the city. So much, in fact, you could easily use this as a sandbox for a new campaign in a brand new world (or a new region within your current world).
Most information a GM needs to know is covered: language, currency, history, militia, government, and, of course, the city itself.
It also includes a coloured map of the city, plus some building maps for inns and the like, plus a random encounter table for city encounters.
Finally, it has a few new monsters, a new magic item, and a new high-level spell.
This tome is definitely worth your time and I am sure you can mine ideas from it even if you don’t use it in its entirety.
