Roleplaying Games I Own

Roleplaying Games I Own

Among these pages are a list of all the TTRPG books I own.

They are divided up into physical books and PDFs, and then by title of the game.

For D&D books, I have created a old school list and a more modern list – the latter covering D&D 3e onwards, while the former covers editions pre-3e. I have also created a catch-all section for clones, hacks, and derivatives.

If you are interested in more indie-created products, I have a post covering all the TTRPG releases I recommend getting.

Physical TTRPG Books

Below are a list of physical books I own from various table-top roleplaying games. I have also listed the publisher and each

Aliens RPG

This is the original Aliens Adventure Game RPG by Leading Edge games. This was released in 1991 and used a simplified version of the Phoenix Command rules. It’s heavily based on the 1986 film Aliens, and emphasizes combat between human Colonial Marines and the space horrors from the movie.

Castle Falkenstein

Castle Falkenstein was released in 1994 by R. Talsorian Games. It is a steampunk RPG that is set in an alternate Earth in 1870. The system uses playing to resolve actions instead of dice, and it is a beautifully designed book (half of which is full colour).

Cyberpunk 2020

Cyberpunk 2020 was first published by R. Talsorian Games in 1988. Like Castle Falkenstein, it is set in an alternate timeline, starting from the 1980s. But, Cyberpunk 2020 is set in the future (well, the future from 1988). Characters play one of ten roles, and cyberwear (cyber tech) features heavily.

Dungeons & Dragons (Before 2000)

Old school D&D is my bread-and-butter recently. I have several editions in my collection, and they have definitely stood the test of time. And fantasy is definitely my happy place, so they are most welcome in my home.

Dungeons & Dragons (2000-Onwards)

Even though I do love old school D&D, I do also love 3e. It’s a beautiful series of books that, while verbose, can be mined for a lot of other Dungeons & Dragons editions and hacks. This also contains 4e and 4e book I own.

D&D Clones & Hacks

This is a list of D&D spin-off that pay homage to old school D&D, being that either clones, hacks, or games that were inspired by Dungeons & Dragons.

Feng Shui RPG

Feng Shui RPG is a martial arts-themed role-playing game, designed by Robin Laws, published first by Daedalus Entertainment in 1996. There is a newer second edition (which came out in 2015), but I prefer the original edition. The game is all about action and encourages awesome fights in cool locations, just like you see in action movies.

Hollow Earth Expedition

Hollow Earth Expedition was published in 2006 by Exile Game Studio, and is a pulp fiction role-playing game set in the fictitious Hollow Earth. It is set in the 1930s, and features various factions in the Hollow Earth, like Nazis, as well as dinosaurs and other influences from various genres.

Mutant Chronicles

Mutant Chronicles is set in a post-apocalyptic world, originally published in 1993 by Target Games. It features larger than life factions and monsters, who are fighting for survival within our solar system.

Phoenix Command

Phoenix Command is a very heavy combat-oriented TTRPG system published by Leading Edge Games in 1986. It’s more of a system than a game however, and is heavy of the mechanics. It focuses on modern day firearms.

Star Wars RPG

This is the D6 version by West End Games. For me, it is the definitive version of the Star Wars, and I very much dislike the Fantasy Flight version. It was in print from 1987 and 1999 and had many sourcebooks during that time – some excellent and other not so much. But, overall, it is an excellent version to play.

Twilight: 2000

Twilight: 2000 was released in 1984, and is a post-apocalyptic military game published by Game Designers’ Workshop (GDW). It is set after World War III and set the PCs behind enemy lines surviving, and trying to make it back to friendly territory.

Warhammer Fantasy

This is the 1986 version by Games Workshop. While there are other later version, it’s this version that capture the feel of the Old World the best. It is dirty, brutal, and dark – all the things a good Warhammer Fantasy game should have.
